Why does my garage door keep reversing every time I try to close it?
When this happens, there is usually something wrong with the safety sensors. What you should do is make sure there are no obstructions blocking the door’s path. Then, you should carefully clean the sensors and check that they are correctly positioned and aligned. If none of the above solves the problem, give our team a call!
What is the function of the photoelectric eye sensors?
In a nutshell - they prevent accidents from happening! These sensors are placed about 5-6 inches above the ground on both sides of the opening to your garage (they are often attached to the vertical tracks). When their infra-red beam gets interrupted, the opener "knows" there's an obstacle present and it reverses the door's movement. Make sure you keep the sensors clean and properly aligned so they can do their job properly. Give us a call if you suspect there's a problem with one or both of them.
Can I replace just a couple of damaged panels instead of replacing the whole door?
It depends on how many sections need replacing and whether there are replacement panels available on the market. If you have a sectional garage door, then panel replacement may be a perfectly viable option. If you have a single panel door, then, well, it's not called a "single panel" for nothing... the entire thing may need to be replaced.
